The Brooke Jackman Foundation’s newest initiative, Brooke’s Cooks, is designed to promote literacy, learning and family, while encouraging healthy living among at-risk children and their families in the New York City area. The first Brooke’s Cooks event was held on Thursday, July 31, with nearly 50 children ages five-12 and their families at the St. Nick’s Alliance in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

5th Annual Brooke Jackman Read-a-thon Celebrates Positive Power of Books
On September 6th, the Brooke Jackman Foundation celebrated the positive and transformative power of literacy with at-risk children in New York at the 5th Annual BJF Read-a-thon. Nearly 200 children and families gathered for an afternoon of books and bonding at Barnes & Noble Tribeca in Manhattan. New York Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence Rosemonde Pierre-Louis, celebrated children’s author Stephanie Calmenson, and Broadway actors Gisela Adisa, Nicole Riding, and Jeff Johnson all joined as guest readers. ABC News Radio host Cheri Preston served as MC for the day.
